Bring a taste of Tuscan tradition to the festive table with Sapori Panforte with Pistachio. Panforte is one of Siena’s oldest sweets, a dense, chewy cake of nuts and candied fruit. Sapori has been making it in Siena since 1832. This pistachio version is a delicious twist on the classic.
Whole pistachios meet the sweetness of almonds in a dough that is still rolled out by hand, with candied melon and citron adding fruity sweetness. It has a rich, aromatic flavour and a soft chew. Serve it in thin slices with coffee or dessert wine after a meal, or add it to a festive cheese board. It also makes a lovely gift.
